Jan Agema Award

To honor Jan Agema and stimulate innovation in hydraulic engineering, the Jan Agema Award is presented every five years to the best and most innovative hydraulic engineering project completed in recent years.

In 2025, the Limburg Water Authority nominated the Self‑Closing Float Barrier® in Steyl for the Jan Agema Award. This nomination is a strong recognition of the innovation and value of the Float Barrier®.

The submission placed just outside the top three of twenty entries but was ranked first in the category “Rivers, IJsselmeer Region, and Inland Waters.”
