The Dutch Float Dike consists of a concrete basin that can be constructed in situ. Depending on soil conditions, foundation piles and/or a seepage screen may be required. The basin can be built as a long, continuous concrete structure using standard reinforced concrete.
For smaller closures — such as dike openings or access points — the concrete basin can also be produced as a prefab unit.
The gate is a steel structure manufactured in a workshop. This requires precision to ensure long lifespan and watertight performance.
The floater is made of EPDM foam with a protective coating to prevent damage. The sealing rubbers are specially developed for durability and optimal sealing.
After construction of the concrete basin and fabrication of the gate with floater, the gate is lifted into the basin.
